Every webmaster, regardless of their experience or number of sites, has expenses. Usually these expenses are not a huge deal, but they often place a burden on the novice webmaster. If you’re just starting out, I doubt your expenses would be more than $20/month or so (cheap web hosting and domains are the most costly thing for novice webmasters), but for experienced webmasters with large sites, monthly bills can come out to $500 or more. If you’re looking for a way to make your sites work for you and produce revenue, read on.
First, I recommend trying to sell advertising. In order to do this, you need to have a working, live site that actually gets visitors. If your site gets less than 50 UV’s/day or so, I doubt you will get too much money for advertisements, so if that’s the case, I suggest going a different route. If you have a decent amount of traffic, you can easily make $10-$50+ per month just from selling small advertisements to people in your industry. The best way to do this is to go to a webmaster forum such as DigitalPoint and making a sales thread. Keep your prices reasonable, and try to highlight the good things about your site. For instance, if your site is hosted on quality cheap web hosting, mention that. If all your content is unique and high-quality, mention that.
If that doesn’t seem to work, there are many other methods that you can use to make a few bucks every month. I’ll try to go over all of them eventually, but for now, here’s a lesser-known method that can help you easily make back the money you spend on cheap web hosting. This method involves buying a reseller plan (different from cheap web hosting), and selling it to other webmasters.
